Deuteronomy 33:27
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’”
The clock reads a time that feels both too late and not late enough. The air in the room is still. You've been on this road for what seems like forever, and the horizon hasn't changed. It's the kind of tired that makes the simplest things—answering a text, deciding what's for dinner—feel like enormous tasks.
Of course you're exhausted. This stretch has been long. The demands have been relentless. Your weariness isn't a character flaw. It's the honest, human response to carrying something heavy for a very long time.
Here is what the scripture says plainly: 'The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.' Not arms that catch you if you fall—arms that are already there. Underneath. Right now. Before you take another step. The point is not that you need to find more strength to keep going. The point is that you are already being held up. God does not get tired of holding you. That is the gift—not a finish line, but a foundation that was there before this season started.
You don't have to manufacture the energy to keep going. You are already supported. That is enough for tonight.
A prayer for today
Thank You for the bed beneath me. For the solid fact that I made it to the end of this day, this week, this season that has stretched on and on. I’m naming the fatigue. I’m naming the length of this road. You already know both. I am so tired of walking. I am so tired of trying to measure my own strength. Your promise is holding me now: the eternal God is my refuge. Your everlasting arms are the ground I rest upon. I don’t have to find my footing. I am already found, already supported. The enemies of my soul—the fear that this will never end, the lie that I am alone in it—You are driving them out. You are saying ‘Destroy them!’ on my behalf. So I stop striving. I am held. I am safe here. That is the gift, and it is enough. Thank You. Amen.
