Psalm 38:8

“I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.”

We've all had those chapters. The ones where the story turns heavy, where the narrative you're living feels like it's written in lead, and you're the one tasked with carrying this particular page. Your shoulders ache with it. Your heart feels the crush of ink and expectation. It's the weight of a diagnosis, a goodbye, a season that just won't lift. It's the part of the story where the hero is supposed to be brave, but you just feel feeble.

Is it any wonder you're tired? Could anyone hold a page this dense and not feel utterly crushed? The groan that rises from your chest isn't a sign of failure—it's the honest sound of a heart bearing a weight it was never meant to carry alone. What if your weariness isn't a problem to solve, but a truth to be heard?

Listen to the ancient echo: 'I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.' This isn't a psalm of polished praise. It's a ragged breath in the dark, a confession scratched onto the page. And it's right there, in the sacred text. Your exhaustion has a place in the story. Your crushed feeling isn't a mark against you; it's a line in the narrative that God Himself includes. He doesn't edit out the hard parts. He doesn't skip to the resolution. He sits with you in the middle of the heavy paragraph. This page you're carrying? You're not the author. You're not even the main character. You are a beloved part of a much larger story, and the One who holds the entire book is holding you right now. The weight makes sense. Of course you're tired. This page is heavy. But the binding of the story—the love that holds all the chapters together—that's strong enough. You don't have to be.

So let the book rest in a larger pair of hands. Your only job is to stop trying to carry the whole library. Breathe in. You're part of a story. Breathe out. You are held by the Author.

A prayer for today

Crushed. That's the honest word. This part of the story is so heavy, God. I am feeble under the weight of this page. I groan, and You are listening. You are not asking me to be the hero of this chapter. You are holding the entire book. I am not carrying this alone. The narrative is Yours. The binding is Your kindness. Thank You that my weariness has a place in Your story. Thank You that I don't have to edit out the hard parts for You. I am held in the middle of the paragraph. The next page is already in Your hands. Breathe in. I am part of Your story. Breathe out. I am safe there. Amen.
