Isaiah 25:4
“You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.”
You feel exposed right now — like you're standing outside in a cold rain, trying to build a roof with your own two hands. You're working with plans, savings, control, whatever you can find. And still the rain comes through.
Here's what Isaiah says about God: "You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat."
Notice the tense. Have been. Past tense. The walls are already up. The roof is already on. God isn't handing you a hammer and asking you to get to work. The shelter is finished. It has been finished for a long time.
You qualify because you are needy, not because you are strong. Your distress is not an obstacle — it's the very reason the door is open for you.
You don't have to build anything tonight. The safe place is already there. You can walk in and rest.
A prayer for today
I’m wet and cold and tired. I stop building. I step in. You are my shelter. Amen.
