Philippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
Friday afternoon. The week's tally is complete in your mind—what was accomplished, what was missed, what still feels out of reach. You're running the numbers again, subtracting your energy from the demands, and the balance keeps coming up short. The story you've been telling yourself is one of not enough: not enough time, not enough resilience, not enough to offer.
That story feels true because you've lived it. When provision feels like something you have to secure yourself, of course the math never settles.
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." That word "riches" is doing real work here. Not a careful allowance. Not a tight budget you have to stretch. The promise is that your needs—for rest, for purpose, for the deep knowing that you are provided for—are met by a supply that doesn't depend on what you can produce or protect. God meets them. That's the active verb. You receive; He provides.
So yes, there is enough. Not because you managed it well, but because the one who promised is already moving toward you with exactly what you need.
A prayer for today
My hands feel tight, God. Fingers curled from holding on so hard to the old story of lack. You see the tension in my knuckles, the weariness in my grip. I’ve been authoring from a place of scarcity. I lay down that pen. I’m tired of writing that narrative. You are writing a new one. Your promise holds me: all my needs, met. Not from my shallow reserves, but from the ocean of Your glory. That’s the plot twist. So here, I uncurl my fingers. I stop the grasping. I am held by a provision that arrives without my striving. Thank You. This is enough. I am enough, because You are more than enough. Amen.
