Psalm 143:8

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

Can we name it? You feel stuck. Not just tired, but genuinely, frustratingly stuck. Like you're pressing on a door that won't budge, or your feet are in thick mud. And the worst part is the voice that says you should be moving by now — that this resistance is proof something is wrong with you.

It isn't. Being stuck is not a character flaw. You're pushing against something real and solid, and that is simply hard. The stuckness makes sense.

Here is what the psalm says, from someone who couldn't see the path either: 'Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.' Notice what that prayer does not say. It doesn't say, 'Give me a map so I can figure this out myself.' It says, 'Show me.' That's an admission — I cannot see from here. And then, 'I entrust my life.' Not just this problem. Not just today. My life. That is a person who has stopped trying to force the way open and placed the whole thing in God's hands.

This is the shift the scripture offers: the next step is not yours to manufacture. It belongs to God to show. You are not broken for being unable to see it. You are in exactly the posture the psalm describes — honest about the darkness, and waiting for a love that does not fail to bring the morning word.

Being stuck is not the end of the story. It is the moment just before God shows the way.

A prayer for today

Into Your hands, I place this stuckness. The feeling of no forward motion, the resistance that meets my push. I am entrusting what I cannot move to You. My life, my next step, this heavy uncertainty — it is Yours to hold. You are showing the way. I do not have to see it first to believe it is there. So here, in this pause, I stop pushing. I am held in the not-knowing. I am carried by a love that does not fail. That is enough. Amen.
