Isaiah 43:25

“"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more."”

What if the score you've been keeping against yourself doesn't count? You know the one. The mental list of every time you fell short, spoke too sharply, didn't measure up. You review it in the quiet—adding today's failures to yesterday's. It feels permanent, like it's etched into stone and stored somewhere.

That weight makes sense. When you believe your worth depends on a clean record, every mistake feels like another mark. Of course you'd keep track. Of course you'd wonder if He is too.

Here is the answer, spoken plainly: 'I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.' God is not keeping your list. He blotted it out—not because you earned it, but because of who He is. That word 'remembers' matters. He is not ignoring the record while it quietly exists somewhere. He chose not to remember it. The erasing was decisive, finished, and done by His hand alone.

You can stop adding to the tally tonight. The list you've been maintaining was never the one that counted. What counts is this: a God who saw everything and chose to clear the record anyway. That is the truth you get to rest in.

A prayer for today

Naming it: the old record. The one I can't stop reading. Naming the truer thing: the clean page You hold. God, I bring You the mental list, the shame of what's written there. I've believed those marks defined me. Thank You that You, for Your own sake, chose to blot it all out. You are the one who doesn't remember. My part is to receive the gift of this blank space. I am held by this new story. I am defined by Your kindness, not my ledger. The weight of the old book is gone. I rest here, on this fresh page, written in Your love. Amen.
