Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Can we name it? The world outside your window looks washed out. The same commute, the same screen, the same tasks that never seem to sparkle. You’re moving through the motions, but the color has drained from the edges. It all feels… beige. Monotone. A landscape painted in shades of gray.
Of course it does. When life becomes a series of checkmarks, when the extraordinary feels permanently out of reach, the view turns flat. The weight of the ordinary is a real weight. It sits in your bones, in the quiet sigh you release without thinking.
Now, listen for the rhythm underneath it all. It’s the steady, unflashy beat of a promise that doesn’t depend on your feeling it to be true. 'Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.' This isn’t about a sudden burst of neon joy. Into Your hands, I place this monochrome day. The flatness. The rinse-and-repeat feeling that tints everything. I am tired of the gray. You already know. So I am bringing You the blank canvas of my routine and asking—trusting—that You are the one who paints it. Your compassions are the color. Your never-failing kindness is the pigment that changes everything. You are making all things new, even this, even now. I don’t have to strain my eyes to see it. I am simply held in the rhythm of Your faithfulness. That is enough. Thank You. Amen.
