2 Samuel 22:34

“He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.”

You feel shaky and solid at the same time. How is that even possible? The ground beneath you seems to shift with every worry, yet there's a stubborn, quiet part of you that refuses to fall. Maybe it's the part that got you out of bed this morning. Maybe it's the part that whispers, 'Just one more step,' even when your legs feel like water.

That tension makes sense. You've been believing that your footing depends on your grip—that if you just hold on tighter, think clearer, or try harder, you'll finally feel secure. You've been thinking that stability is something you manufacture through sheer endurance.

What if the very thing you're straining to create is already yours? The scripture holds a picture for you: 'He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.' Notice the verbs. He *makes*. He *causes*. This isn't about your agility or your effort to climb. It's about a gift being given. A transformation happening to you. The sure-footedness of a deer on a rocky slope—that's being woven into the very fabric of who you are. The high place, the firm ground with a view—that's being established beneath you.

You don't have to find this place. You don't have to build it or earn it. It is being given. Your standing is not a reward for your endurance; it's the foundation for it. Right now, in the middle of the shakiness, something solid is being placed under your feet. The heights aren't a distant peak you must claw your way toward; they are the ground on which you are already being caused to stand.

Let that settle. No response needed.

A prayer for today

Thank You that I don't have to manufacture my own stability. Thank You that my footing isn't a test I have to pass. I'm bringing You the shakiness—the fear that the ground will give way. You already see it. You are making my feet sure. You are causing me to stand. I am being given a place that doesn't depend on my strength. So here, in this trust that feels fragile, I stop trying to hold everything together. The solid ground is Your kindness, already here. I am standing, because You said so. That is enough. Amen.

Standing, Not Just Surviving · Life feels unstable, like ground that keeps shifting beneath your feet. Here, you are offered a firmer foundation—a love that holds you steady, so you can finally stand.
