Psalm 125:1
“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.”
End of the week. You have been holding yourself together through sheer force of will—decisions made, worries managed, one more hard thing handled. It works, until it doesn't, and tonight the exhaustion of all that effort sits heavy in your chest.
That kind of tired makes sense. When life feels uncertain, you reach for what you can control: your own grip. You hold tighter, brace harder, push through. But there is only so long a person can hold that posture before the hands start to ache.
Here is what Psalm 125 says about you: "Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever." Think about a mountain for a moment. A mountain does not grip the ground. It does not tense up against the wind. It simply is—settled by weight and placement, not by effort. The mountain's steadiness is not something it manufactures each morning. It is what the mountain is, where the mountain sits.
That is the picture God holds out to you tonight. You are not being asked to hold on harder. You are being compared to something that cannot be shaken—not because of your strength, but because of whose name you are trusted into. The steadiness was never in your grip. It was always in who you belong to.
You can open your hands. The mountain does not fall when it stops trying.
A prayer for today
Thank You for this truth that meets me where I am: on shaky, tired legs. Thank You that my stability was never my job to manufacture. I bring You the tremor in my hands, the uncertainty in my thoughts—all the ways I’ve been trying to be my own foundation. You are already the rock. I am already standing on it. I don’t have to find my footing; You are my footing. My trust isn’t a feat of strength. It’s a sigh of relief. I am held. I am unmoved, because You are unmoving. That is enough for tonight. Amen.
Standing, Not Just Surviving · Life feels unstable, like ground that keeps shifting beneath your feet. Here, you are offered a firmer foundation—a love that holds you steady, so you can finally stand.
