Is my safety really not my job to keep up?

That voice in the quiet is familiar: 'What if this falls apart? What if the safety you feel right now just gives way?' So you scan for threats. You patch the gaps. You lie awake running through everything that could go wrong, as if worrying hard enough might finally hold the walls up. That kind of exhaustion makes complete sense.

But here is what Psalm 62:8 says straight out: 'Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.' Not 'God will be your refuge once you've secured things well enough.' Not 'God is a refuge you can borrow if you stay faithful.' God is your refuge. Present tense. Already standing. You did not lay a single stone of it.

That means the wall between you and what you fear most is not held up by your vigilance. It was built by a love that has already seen every storm coming your way and did not flinch. Your job right now is not construction. It is simply this: pour out your heart to the one who built the shelter. The walls will not shake while you do.
