Psalm 73:26
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
What if the strength you need isn't something you have to find? What if it's not waiting for you at the finish line of your exhaustion, or hidden behind one more act of willpower? You're bone-tired. The kind of tired that makes your thoughts feel slow and your body feel heavy. The day has taken its share, and you're left feeling like a well that's run dry, wondering how you'll possibly face what comes next.
That weariness makes complete sense. It's the honest cost of showing up, of caring, of trying. You're not weak for feeling it; you're human. And in this exact moment of depletion, you're allowed to stop pretending you have reserves you don't. You're allowed to admit the tank is empty.
Picture this: you don't have to dig deep. You don't have to manufacture courage from thin air. The scripture whispers a different story: 'My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.' Your weariness is seen, named, and met—not with a demand to be stronger, but with the gift of a strength that does not fail. This isn't a pep talk. It's a reality. A strength that is the very core of your being, a quiet, unshakable foundation already placed within you. It's not something you activate; it's something you discover has been holding you all along. Your failing heart? It's being cradled by a strength that never clocks out, never grows weary, never says 'enough.' It's your portion. Your permanent, non-negotiable share. Not because you earned it, but because you are loved.
So the strength for tomorrow? It's already here, woven into the fabric of who you are. The courage for the next step is present-tense. You can lay down the burden of having to generate your own power. Morning will come with its own light and its own mercies. For now, in this quiet, your heart is held. That is more than enough.
A prayer for today
Honestly? I feel poured out. Empty. Like a well that's hit dust. I have nothing left to give, not even to You in prayer. But I'm showing up anyway, bringing You this hollowed-out feeling. Thank You that my emptiness isn't a problem for You. Thank You that Your promise isn't based on how full my tank is. 'God is the strength of my heart.' That's the truth, even when my heart feels too tired to beat strong. Your strength is the gift. My heart is being held by it, right now. I am sustained. I am carried. I don't have to find the strength; I am found by it. That's all. Amen.
