John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Before you read another word, take one breath. Just one. Feel the air move in and out. That simple rhythm is happening without your effort. Maybe you’ve been feeling stuck in an old pattern—the same worry, the same reaction, the same story playing on repeat. You long for a fresh start, a clean page, but it feels just out of reach, like a prize you have to chase down.
That longing makes sense. The feeling that a new beginning is something to be built or earned is a heavy weight. It’s the voice that whispers that wholeness is a distant finish line, not a present reality. But that voice is a thief. Its only purpose is to steal your hope, kill your joy, and destroy your peace.
Here is the counter-invitation, spoken straight to your stuck places: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' This isn’t a theory. It’s a declaration over your life right now. The full life Jesus describes isn’t a future reward for good behavior. It’s not a trophy you win after finally fixing yourself. It is a present reality, already handed to you. It is the prize, already won on your behalf. It is the door to a new beginning, already swung wide open.
Right now, in this breath, the fullness you’ve been searching for is being placed in your hands. You don’t have to grasp for it. You don’t have to prove you’re worthy of it. Your hands are simply open, and the gift is being given. The striving for a fresh start ends here. Being enough—being complete, being loved, being held—takes over. The work of making you new is finished. Your job is to receive what’s already yours.
The door was never locked. You can walk through.
A prayer for today
'I have come that you may have life,' You said. God, I’m standing at the threshold of that promise tonight. I’ve been feeling so stuck, circling the same old rooms of my heart, longing for a way out. I confess I’ve treated Your gift like a prize on a high shelf, something I needed to build a ladder to reach. Thank You that the full life isn’t something I earn. It’s a gift, already placed in my open hands. The door to a new beginning isn’t barred; it’s open, and You are the one holding it for me. I am walking through. I am receiving. I am home. Amen.
