Psalm 38:9

“All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.”

End of the day. End of your pretending. The smile you wore for everyone else has finally slipped, and what's left is the heavy feeling you've been carrying since morning. You tried to tuck it away, act like it wasn't there. But it followed you home.

Here is what's true tonight: 'All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.' That's Psalm 38:9. Your longings — the deep aches, the hopes too fragile to say out loud — are already open before Him. Your sighing — that wordless exhale when you're just done — is not hidden. He hears it. He sees it. You haven't been alone with this.

So the thing you've been treating like a secret you have to manage on your own? He already knows it. And He hasn't turned away.

That means you don't have to keep hiding. Not tonight. You can set down the performance. What you've been carrying in private is safe here.

Sleep well. The work of hiding is done.

A prayer for today

The words won't come neatly tonight, God. But this heavy exhale will. You already know what it means. I'm bringing the weight I tried to hide. The longing I thought I should silence. It's all here, open before You — because it was never really hidden, was it? You see what I've been carrying. You hear the fatigue underneath my silence. And You are not turning away. Thank You that I don't need to explain this ache or clean it up first. Thank You that being seen is the whole prayer. I am held in this. I am safe here. Amen.
