Philippians 4:19

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Before you read another word, take one breath. Just one. Feel the air fill your lungs and leave again. Notice the space it creates. Maybe you came here guarding that space—that time, that energy—like it’s the last bit of water in a canteen on a long trek. You measure it out, careful not to spill a drop, because what if it runs out? What if you give it to the wrong thing and have nothing left for what matters?

Is it any wonder you hold on so tight? When every demand feels like a withdrawal from an account you’re not sure is balanced? The guarding makes sense. The rationing is understandable.

But listen to this, spoken over your careful calculations: 'And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.' Riches. Not a careful allowance. Not a tight budget you have to stretch. The word is 'riches'—an overflowing, never-ending supply from a source of glorious, limitless wealth. This isn't about you managing scarcity. This is about you living from abundance. Your need for rest, for purpose, for the energy to love well—it’s all met. Not by your striving to conserve, but by his generous giving. The supply doesn’t run dry. It can’t. It’s connected to the bottomless depths of his own glorious nature. Your life isn't a canteen to be guarded; it's meant to be a cup, placed under a waterfall of what he provides. You get to drink deeply, and still, it overflows.

So what if you stopped auditing your own soul? What if, right in this moment, you let the grip around your resources loosen? The waterfall is already flowing. The gift is already given. Your part isn't to find it or earn it, but to recognize it’s here.

Notice the slight shift in your chest. That’s the weight of management being replaced by the lightness of provision. You are provided for. You are full. That’s the truth, already true.

A prayer for today

Into Your hands, I place this guarded heart. All the careful rationing, the fear of running dry, the mental ledger of what I’ve spent and what I have left. You see it all. I’ve been acting like a beggar guarding crumbs, when You’ve been offering a feast from Your riches the whole time. Forgive me for that. Thank You that my needs are met by Your wealth, not my worry. Thank You that the supply is You, and You do not run out. So here, I open my hands. I am held by Your promise. I am filled from Your overflow. That is enough. It is more than enough. Amen.
