Psalm 56:8
“Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record?”
You have been pushing through. The headache, the heavy eyes, the bone-deep fatigue—you reach for another cup of coffee and tell yourself to keep going. Somewhere you picked up the idea that exhaustion is a weakness you need to hide, especially from God.
But the Psalmist asked the same question you are asking right now. "List my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record?" He needed to know whether God was paying attention. And the answer is built right into the words: yes. Every ache, every hard day, every moment you ran dry—seen and kept.
Your exhaustion is not a sign that you have fallen behind. It is a sign that you are human, which is exactly what God made you to be. You are not the Creator. He is. Your limits are not a flaw in you; they are the shape He gave you.
He is not waiting for you to recover before He shows up. He is already here, in the tiredness, noticing.
A prayer for today
You see me, Lord. The tired bones, the heavy heart, the end of my rope. You don't turn away from my limits. You made me this way. I stop pretending I am stronger than I am. I am human. You are God. I can rest inside that difference. Amen.
