Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
There's a word for this feeling. It's called 'haunted.' Not by ghosts, but by memories. The ones that replay like a film you never wanted to see again. The ache of a past chapter that feels glued to your hands, its weight making it hard to turn the page. You're carrying a story you wish you could edit, or better yet, delete entirely.
That weight makes sense. Those memories still have sharp edges. You don't have to pretend they don't hurt or that you're over it. Healing isn't about forgetting; it's about being held while you remember. The fact that it still aches just means you're human, and your heart did its job of feeling deeply.

Naming it: the haunted places in my memory. Naming the truth: Your love is bigger. God, these old chapters feel so heavy. I keep rereading them, and the ache is real. I'm bringing You the weight of what was, the sharp edges of what I remember. Thank You that I don't have to edit the past myself or muster up a feeling of being 'over it.' Your promise is holding me now: I am not consumed. Those compassions, new this morning, are wrapping around the very parts of my story that still hurt. I am held. The fresh start is already here, written by Your faithfulness, not my effort. So here, in this quiet, I stop carrying. I am home. Amen.
