Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

You're lying awake, running tomorrow's list for the third time. The screen of your mind is lit with scenarios—the meeting, the conversation, the thing you might forget. What if it goes wrong? What if you're not enough? The future feels like a heavy burden you're already carrying on your shoulders, a weight made of questions with no answers yet.

That heaviness makes sense. When the path ahead is unclear, your mind tries to map every possibility, to prepare for shadows. It's a natural response to uncertainty, this mental scrolling through worst-case scenarios. You're not failing at peace; you're being human in a world that feels unpredictable.

The thing you're afraid of? The weight of all those tomorrows crushing you? 'Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.' That's not a gentle suggestion—it's a firm kindness. It's an invitation to stop carrying what isn't yours to hold. The burden of uncertainty, the weight of every 'what if'—it's being carried for you. You don't have to figure it all out tonight. You don't have to secure the future to feel safe in this moment. Safety isn't a feeling you manufacture by worrying; it's a reality that holds you even when your mind races. The One who holds tomorrow is already holding you, right now, in the middle of the unknown. Your worth, your provision, your next step—none of it depends on the strength of your grip. It rests in a grip that will not let you go.

So feel the weight lift. Not because you pushed it off, but because hands stronger than yours have taken it. The burden of tomorrow is not on your shoulders. It never was. You can breathe into the space that's left—the space where trust grows quietly, where being held is enough. The weight is gone. You are here, and you are safe.

A prayer for today

Into Your hands, I place this weight. All of it. The 'what ifs' about tomorrow, the scenarios I can't control, the heavy burden of uncertainty I've been carrying on my own. You already know the list my mind won't stop writing. You see every fear named and unnamed. I'm tired of carrying it. Thank You that I don't have to. Your words are true: tomorrow will worry about itself. So tonight, I am letting my shoulders drop. I am held by the One who holds all my days. The burden is Yours. I am simply here, breathing, safe. That is enough. Amen.
