1 Corinthians 3:7
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
You looked at your day and wondered if any of it mattered. The small kindness no one noticed. The effort that seemed to disappear without a trace. That ache is real—the feeling that your contribution is invisible, that the real story is happening somewhere else.
Of course it feels that way. You are doing the planting and the watering. You rarely get to see what grows.
Paul named this directly: "So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow." This is not a dismissal of your work. It is the relief underneath your question. Your job is not to produce the growth—it is to show up with your bucket and your patch of ground and be faithful. The growth, the outcome, the meaning of what you did today: God is handling that. It does not require your eyesight to be real.
Your invisible contribution counts. Not because the world will eventually notice, but because God is the one who makes things grow—and He is already at work in what you planted today.
A prayer for today
The words won't come easily tonight, God. I'm tired of feeling like my work disappears. Thank You that I am not responsible for the harvest. You are the one who makes things grow—not my visibility, not my effort alone. I showed up. I planted. I watered. That was my part, and it was enough. I lay down the need to see results tonight. The growth is Yours. What I did today is held in Your hands. That is enough to sleep on. Amen.
