Song of Songs 4:7
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”
You know your failures. You can list them. You replay them at night—the things you said, the things you didn't do, the ways you came up short. You look at yourself and the tally is long.
Then comes this verse from Song of Songs: "There is no flaw in you."
You want to argue. You have evidence. You could pull out the list right now. How can God say there is no flaw when you can see the flaws so clearly?
Here is the answer: He is not looking at you the way you look at yourself. When God looks at you, He sees you through what Christ has already done. The verdict was settled at the cross—not earned by your behavior, not revised by your failures. It was declared, and it stands.
Your own count says: not enough, still broken, still failing. God's verdict says: altogether beautiful, no flaw found.
Both cannot be the final word. One is your running count; the other is His declaration. He does not revise His declaration every time you mess up. He already knew every failure when He said it.
You don't have to clean yourself up for the verdict to hold. You just have to receive it.
A prayer for today
I stop measuring. I stop comparing. I accept Your verdict over my own. No flaw found. That is what You see when You look at me. Amen.
The Weight of 'Should' · You carry an invisible backpack stuffed with 'shoulds.' This week, it's gently lifted from your shoulders, and you rest in the freeing truth that you are already enough.
