Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
The word for this morning is 'dread.' It's that heavy, cold feeling in your stomach when the alarm goes off and the weight of yesterday hasn't lifted. It's the thought of another twenty-four hours of the same struggle, the same pain, the same effort just to keep moving. Some mornings, the simple act of facing another day of hardship feels impossible. The day ahead feels less like a path and more like a solid wall you're supposed to climb.
That feeling makes sense. The weariness is real. The resistance in your spirit is a valid response to carrying something hard for a long time. You don't have to pretend it's easy or that you're ready to leap out of bed with a smile.
Picture this: the day isn't a wall. It's a space being held open, waiting for you. It's not an obstacle course you have to conquer. A prayer for today
I don't know how to pray about this day, God. The words 'help me' feel too small and also like too much work. So here is my tired silence, my quiet dread. You see it. Thank You that this day is not a blank page I have to fill with my own failing strength. Thank You that it's a space Your kindness is already holding open. Your faithful love got here first. I am carried into these hours by that promise. I am met. However I stumble through this day, I am not consumed. Your fresh compassions are the ground beneath my feet, even when they feel weak. That is enough for now. Amen.
