Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
You have tried. You have breathed slowly, made the lists, told yourself to calm down. Maybe you have prayed. And still the worry is there, still running.
Here is what Isaiah 26:3 says: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
The word that changes everything is "keep." God is the one doing the keeping. Peace is not something you build or earn or finally figure out. It is something He holds you inside of. You are not the builder. You are the one being kept.
So if peace has felt impossible no matter what you try, that may be exactly right. You were never meant to produce it yourself. The trying was real, but it was aimed at the wrong thing.
What does "steadfast" look like then? Not a perfectly quiet mind. Just a mind that keeps coming back to Him when it wanders. Leaning on Him instead of standing on your own effort. You can do that right now, even with the noise still going.
A prayer for today
I can’t hold myself up anymore. I lean my tired mind on You. You are the Keeper. Keep me. Amen.
