Isaiah 54:10
“"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.”
'Not enough.' That voice again. The one that replays the critic's words on a loop, measuring everything you did today and finding it short. When you have heard that message long enough, your worth starts to feel like something fragile — one bad week away from being taken back.
That fear makes sense. Of course you'd brace for the love to run out. The world mostly works that way.
But listen to what God says here, on this last night of the week: 'Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.' He doesn't say your performance is solid. He says His love is. Mountains — actual mountains — could collapse. What He feels for you would not move an inch. Your worth isn't resting on what you did this week. It's resting on what He declared, and He is not the kind of person who changes His mind.
The critic in your head got the last word all week. It doesn't get it tonight. God already spoke, and what He said was this: you are loved, without conditions, without an expiration date. That is the thing you can take with you into sleep.
A prayer for today
The honest truth, God: that voice has been loud this week. I've been half-convinced my worth depends on doing better next time. But You say Your love cannot be shaken — not by my mistakes, not by my worst days, not by anything. I'm bringing You the fear that I'm not enough. You already know it. And You are not moved. I am held by a love that doesn't change. That is more than enough to rest in tonight. Amen.
