Isaiah 43:25

“"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more."”

The screen glows with a forgotten note to yourself. A reminder from last month, or maybe last year, about something you never fixed. You read it and that old, familiar weight settles in your stomach—the ledger of your mistakes, still open on that same page.

Of course it feels heavy. You've been carrying the belief that accounts must be settled, that every line item requires a payment from you. The thought that you owe something for what's been written—it makes perfect sense in a world that keeps score.

Right now, in this breath, listen to a voice that doesn't keep books: 'I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.' This isn't a gentle erasing. It's a permanent blotting. The ink is gone. The page is turned not by your weary hand, but by a kindness that operates on its own terms. It happens 'for my own sake.' Your rescue isn't something you triggered; it's something done for the rescuer's own heart. The record isn't just closed; it's rewritten. The story that haunted you—the one about your failures, your lacks, your not-enoughs—has a new author. The old chapter ends with a period, not a question mark. The new one begins with your name, not your resume.

This means the heaviness you feel? It's an echo of a debt already paid. The ghost of a ledger that no longer exists. You are free to walk away from the empty column. You are released from the full-time job of being your own accountant.

Sleep well, beloved. The books are balanced, and the balance was always in your favor.

A prayer for today

Thank You that the story isn't frozen on my worst page. Thank You that You are the one holding the pen, and You write in permanent ink: 'Forgotten.' I bring You the ghost of that ledger—the one I keep trying to audit in my mind. You already see every line I'm afraid of. And You tell me the ink is gone. Blotted out for Your sake, not because I finally made it right. So here, in this quiet, I stop trying to remember what You choose to forget. I am held by a kindness that doesn't keep receipts. The new chapter is already written, and it begins with me, simply loved. That is the only record that remains. Amen.
