Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

You have been trying to fix yourself up before coming to God. You filter what you say in prayer. You wait until you feel a little more together, a little less angry, a little more grateful. You think God would rather deal with a better version of you.

But Romans 5:8 says: "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Not after you got better. Not once you cleaned yourself up. While you were still a mess — that is when He moved toward you. He did not wait for the improved version. He came for the real one.

You do not need to present a tidy front to God. The love that saved you was not a response to your best self. It was a response to your actual self — the one with the doubts, the temper, the shame, the parts you do not show anyone.

You are already known as you are. You are already loved as you are. You can stop fixing yourself before you walk in.

A prayer for today

Here is the mess, God. Here is the ugliness. Thank You for loving this version. I stop the edit. Amen.
