Psalm 31:15

“My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.”

The screen glows with tomorrow’s schedule. The room is quiet, but your mind is loud with dates, deadlines, and a map you’ve been trying to draw for months. You’ve been clutching a calendar of your own making, tracing routes into a future that feels just out of focus. The weight of it sits in your palms—a phantom planner you can’t seem to set down.

That pressure makes sense. The need to know the next step, to chart the course, to have the answer ready—it’s a heavy thing to carry. You’ve been believing that holding the map steady is your responsibility, that if you just grip it tighter, the path will become clear.

Picture this: you don’t have to be the cartographer of your own life. The scripture isn’t a suggestion; it’s a gentle taking of hands. 'My times are in your hands.' That’s an invitation to uncurl your fingers. The timeline you’ve been white-knuckling—the one marked with 'should be here by now' and 'what if'—is being lifted from you. Not because you figured out how to let go, but because a stronger, kinder hand is already underneath it, receiving the weight. Your future isn’t a puzzle you must solve or a destination you must navigate alone. It’s already held. The map isn’t yours to clutch; it’s yours to trust. The dates, the seasons, the waiting, the arriving—all of it is secure in a grasp that never tires, in a plan that doesn’t depend on your perfect understanding.

So feel the release. The calendar pages soften. The rigid lines on your mental map begin to blur, not into uncertainty, but into the freedom of being led. You are not lost. You are found, and your times are known.

Breathe in. The timeline is safe. Breathe out. Your hands are empty, and that is holy ground.

A prayer for today

My hands ache from holding on. You see the tension in my knuckles, the way I’ve been gripping this imaginary timeline like a lifeline. I’m bringing You the calendar of my fears and the map of my plans. You are taking it. I don’t have to pry my own fingers open. You are receiving the weight of every 'when' and 'how.' My times are in Your hands—not as a theory, but as my reality right now. I am held in the chronology of Your kindness. Thank You that I don’t have to know the route. I am led. I am free. That is enough. Amen.
