Psalm 145:9
“The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
Maybe today felt like nothing. Not bad, not good—just another day you got through. The air came and went. The light moved across the floor. You probably didn't notice either one.
That makes sense. When nothing shouts for your attention, it is easy to assume nothing was given. The quiet days feel like the days God skipped.
But here is what the scripture says, plainly: "The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made." Read the word "all" again. Not the people who had a breakthrough today. Not the ones who prayed long prayers or felt something in church. All. That includes the version of you sitting here right now, in a room that feels ordinary, after a day that left no mark.
His goodness is not a reward handed out on your best days. His compassion does not wait for you to earn a feeling. It is already here—in the breath you just took without asking for it, in the simple fact that you made it to this moment. Ordinary days are not the days He looked away. They are the days His goodness was so steady you could take it for granted.
You are included. Not eventually. Right now.
A prayer for today
God, I confess I look past the quiet gifts. My eyes go straight to what feels missing, and I miss what You have already given. Thank You that Your goodness covers all—including me, on an ordinary day like this one. Thank You that Your compassion does not depend on how I feel or how I performed. You are good. Right now. To me. I am held in Your kindness, even when I cannot see it clearly. So here, I stop looking for proof. I receive what is already here. Amen.
