Did God already put me somewhere solid?

What if the solid ground you've been searching for is already beneath your feet? You've been scanning the horizon for stability—someplace where the shaking stops and you can finally catch your breath. Maybe it's a situation that won't resolve, or the constant feeling that the floor could drop out at any moment. That searching is exhausting.

It makes complete sense. When everything feels like shifting sand, of course you'd be looking for something that doesn't move. The anxiety, the mental recalculating—it's a reasonable response to a real need.

Here's what the psalm says God actually did: 'He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.' Notice the action: He lifted. He set. He gave. Three past-tense verbs. This isn't a promise about a destination you still have to reach. It's a report of something already done. God placed you on the rock. That happened. The ground under you right now doesn't depend on how steady you feel—it depends on what He did.

You don't have to find the solid place. You're already standing in it.
