2 Corinthians 9:8

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

You gave something today. Maybe it was time. Maybe patience. Maybe money you weren't sure you could spare. And somewhere in the back of your mind, a quiet worry: did that make me less? Is there enough left?

That worry makes sense. Giving feels like subtraction. You hand something out, and common sense says the pile gets smaller.

But listen to what Paul writes to a church that was also worried about running short: "God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

Notice what he doesn't say. He doesn't say "if you have a good day" or "when you feel ready." He says in all things, at all times. That's a description of your actual situation right now, not a goal to reach. The supply behind your giving is not your own mood or energy. It's God's abundance, and it doesn't shrink when you use it.

So the giving that happened today? It didn't empty you. You were already provided for before you gave, and you are still provided for now.

That's the thing you can rest in tonight.

A prayer for today

God, I confess I still do the math. I give something and immediately check whether I have enough left. Thank You that Your math is different. You have said: in all things, at all times, having all that I need. I don't have to protect what's mine, because what I have comes from You and it doesn't run out. Let me go to sleep believing that. The giving today was not a loss. I am provided for. That is enough. Amen.
