Colossians 2:10
“and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”
That feeling follows you around. You finish the day and run the numbers in your head — what you gave, what you missed, where you fell short — and the total comes up the same every time: not quite enough. You wonder if that verdict will ever change, or if you will just carry it quietly for the rest of your life.
It makes sense that you feel this way. The world grades you constantly, and the grade rarely feels good enough.
But here is what Colossians 2:10 says plainly: "and in Christ you have been brought to fullness." Not will be brought — if you work harder. Not could be brought — if you get things right. Have been brought. The verb is past tense and passive, which means someone else did the action, and it is already finished. God placed you in Christ, and in that moment, your completeness was settled. You did not earn it, and you cannot lose it by failing.
The feeling of not-enough is real. But it is not the final word on who you are. The final word was spoken by God, not by your performance review. He says: brought to fullness. Done.
You do not have to fix the feeling before that becomes true. It is already true, and the feeling is just catching up.
A prayer for today
Thank You that my search is over. Thank You that wholeness isn't a prize I chase, but a home where I already live. I'm so tired of trying to fill my own cup. You have brought me to fullness. That's Your work, not mine. I am not becoming complete; I am complete in You. This is the settled fact of my life. So let my life be a simple, natural breathing out. Let love and kindness flow from this overflow You've given, not from my strained effort. I am held in this completeness. I rest here. Amen.
A Life That Overflows Naturally · You see giving as another item on your endless list. But when your heart is full, generosity stops being effort—it simply overflows, natural and joyful, like breathing.
