Jeremiah 31:3
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
You probably carry this feeling without naming it: God loves you in general, but the real, close kind of love — the kind that actually reaches you — that is waiting on the other side of some improvement you have not made yet. Pray more. Worry less. Get yourself together. Then it will feel real.
But listen to what God said: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness."
Everlasting means it was already there before you started trying. And "drawn" tells you something important: this love moved first. It came toward you. You did not earn your way into it.
So God is not sitting back with crossed arms, waiting to see how you do. He already drew you close — on your worst days, on the days you felt furthest away, on the days you barely showed up. This week, you showed up. That was enough. It always was.
There is more ahead. More of this — more space, more of what surprised you this week. And it is all still there for you, exactly as you are.
A prayer for today
I have been waiting to feel worthy of this, Lord. Thank You that Your love did not wait for me. You drew me close before I was ready. I am not on hold until I improve. I am already Yours. Amen.
