Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Before you read another word, take one breath. Just one. Let your eyes rest on this line for a moment. Notice the weight of your body against the chair or the bed. The day is done, but your mind might still be running—replaying conversations, worrying about tomorrow, or just buzzing with a static you can't quiet.

That spinning feeling? It makes sense. The world is loud, and your thoughts have been trying to keep up all day. You don't have to apologize for the noise or force it into silence. Right here, in this exact state of wired exhaustion, you are already met. You are already seen.

'You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.' That's not a suggestion—it's an invitation with your name on it. Look at the promise: *You will keep*. The peace isn't something you manufacture by finally calming your thoughts. It's being kept for you, held in reserve in the dark, like a gift wrapped and waiting. Your part isn't to still your mind; it's to trust the One who can. And even that trust isn't a heavy lift—it's more like leaning back into arms that are already there. The steadfast love mentioned? It's doing the work you're too tired to do. It's holding your mind still, not because you forced it, but because it's being gently, firmly cupped by a kindness that doesn't sleep.

So the peace is already given. The sleep is already held for you. You are being kept, not by your own grip, but by a hold that never loosens. Right now, in the middle of the mental noise, that perfect peace is enveloping you. It's a security that doesn't depend on your stillness, but creates it. You don't have to find it or earn it. It finds you. It keeps you.

The gift is held in the dark. You are being kept. Let that truth be the solid ground your tired thoughts finally settle onto.

A prayer for today

Honestly? My mind is a storm. It’s loud and scattered, and I can’t seem to quiet it. I don’t feel very steadfast. I don’t feel peaceful at all. But You said You keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in You. So I’m bringing You this storm. I’m bringing You the trust I wish I had more of. I am not holding my mind still tonight—You are holding it. Your love is the steady hand I lack. Thank You that the peace is already here, kept for me. I am kept. I am enveloped. My racing thoughts are being held in Your perfect, quiet dark. That’s enough. I rest here. Amen.
