Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

You feel fragile and yet you're still standing. How can both be true? The cracks feel visible, like the slightest pressure might be the one that finally does it. And yet, here you are. Still breathing. Still showing up. The weariness is real. The fear that you might not have what it takes for the next thing—that’s real too. You don’t have to pretend you’re made of steel. You’re allowed to feel the strain.

The strength you need isn’t a resource you have to dig up from your own depleted well. It’s not a secret reserve of grit you must locate through sheer force of will. It’s a supply. A steady, external source. It arrives. 'So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.' That’s not a suggestion—it’s an invitation with your name on it. The promise isn’t conditional on your performance. It’s declarative. I *will* strengthen you. I *will* help you. I *will* uphold you. The action belongs to God. The receiving belongs to you.

This is the gift: a resilience that is given, not earned. It’s not a personality trait you were born with or a skill you mastered. It’s a steadiness placed within you, like a deep anchor you didn’t set. You notice it in the moments you don’t fall apart. In the quiet breath you take before you answer. In the inexplicable calm that finds you in the chaos. That steadiness is already yours. It was deposited in your account before the storm even hit. You’re not waiting for a delivery. You’re drawing from a supply that never runs low, because its source never runs dry.

So right now, feel the solid ground beneath your feet. It was always there. The steadiness holding you isn’t something you manufactured. It’s something you’re being given, breath by breath. You are upheld. Not because you gripped tighter, but because you are being gripped. Breathe in. You are held. Breathe out. You are safe.

A prayer for today

I don’t know how to pray for strength anymore, God. My own version feels used up. So I’m just bringing You the tiredness and the hope that there’s another way. Thank You that the strength isn’t mine to create. You are strengthening me. You are the help that arrives before I call. I am upheld by Your hand—not my own shaky grip. The steadiness I feel flickering? That’s Your gift, already given. I am held. I am helped. That is the prayer, and that is the answer. Thank You. Amen.
