Psalm 69:5
“You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you.”
Can we name it? That sticky feeling — the one that makes you feel dirty and exposed, known for all the wrong reasons. Maybe it's a word you wish you hadn't said, a reaction you can't take back. You've tried to reason with it. To outrun it. It's still there.
Here is the fear underneath all that scrubbing: What if God sees it too? What if He sees the whole mess — and decides you're too much to stay with?
Psalm 69 gives you a straight answer. The psalmist doesn't hide his failure. He brings it directly to God: "You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you." That sentence is not a confession bracing for punishment. It's a relief. The worst is already on the table. God already knew — the mistake, the regret, the part you're most ashamed of — and the psalmist is still talking to Him. Still being heard.
This is the thing shame lies about most. It tells you that if God truly saw everything, He would leave. But the psalmist found the opposite: being fully known was not the end of the relationship. It was the beginning of honest rest.
You are not hiding anything from God. You never were. And He is still here.
A prayer for today
Here I am. No script, no polish. You see the folly, the guilt — the whole unedited version. Thank You that nothing is hidden, and You haven't turned Your face away. I don't have to scrub my own soul or make myself presentable before I come to You. You already knew, and You stayed. That is enough. I rest here, fully seen and not abandoned. Amen.
