Isaiah 61:10
“I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness…”
There is a familiar weight at the end of a day like this. Maybe it is a sharp word you wish you had not said. Maybe it is the quiet feeling that you did not do enough, be enough, fix enough. You have been assuming that lightness is something you work your way toward — that freedom is waiting on the other side of getting it right.
But listen to what the scripture says, not as a goal to reach, but as something already done: "He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness." Notice who is doing the action. Not you. He clothed you. The salvation is the garment; you did not weave it. The righteousness is the robe; you did not earn it. It was placed on you.
You do not have to perform your way into feeling lighter. You do not have to wait until the guilt fades on its own. The lightness you are hoping for is not a reward — it is a gift. It has already been given, and it has your name on it.
You can simply receive it tonight.
A prayer for today
God, I am tired of carrying what I thought I had to fix before I could come to You. Thank You that You are the one who covers me — not because I earned it, but because You chose to. I did not make myself clean. You did. I did not earn this freedom. You gave it. So here, I stop striving and I receive. That is enough. Amen.
