Psalm 103:12
“as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
Before you read another word, take one breath. Just one. Feel the air enter and leave. Notice the space it creates in your chest—that tiny, temporary clearing.
Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for so long you’ve forgotten what your own shoulders feel like without it. The old record of mistakes, the replay of what you said or didn’t say, the weight of a choice that shadows your today. What if you didn’t have to carry it anymore? What if the carrying itself was optional?
Here is the space you live in now, declared over you: cleared. Not just tidied up with the mess shoved in a closet. Not just managed or temporarily set aside. ‘As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.’ That’s the promise. East and west never meet. There is no point on the map where they touch. The distance is infinite, the separation is finished.
The thing you’ve been lugging around? It’s gone. Removed beyond any return. This isn’t a partial forgiveness where you get most of it back but have to keep a little piece as a reminder. This is a complete clearing. Every trace, every stain, every echo—scooped up and taken to a horizon that doesn’t exist. You are living in a home that has already been emptied of every ghost. The rooms are open. The air is clean. You don’t have to keep checking the corners for what used to be there.
This forgiveness isn’t something you maintain. It’s a finished fact. You don’t have to earn the right to stay in this cleared space. You don’t have to prove you’re sorry enough or good enough to keep it clean. It was cleared for you. It is held open for you. The work of removal is done, and the door is unlocked. Your only task is to walk in and breathe the free air. To stop looking over your shoulder for what can no longer follow you.
So step into the clearing. The ground is solid beneath you. The sky is wide above you. You belong here, in this spaciousness made just for you.
Sleep well in this clean, open space. You are home.
A prayer for today
Thank You that the distance is real. Thank You that east never finds west, that what You remove is gone for good. I keep checking the old addresses, looking for what I carried. I keep feeling for the weight that defined my posture for so long. But You say it’s not there. The space is clear. The separation is finished. I am not lugging it. You have taken it. I am not managing it; You have removed it. I live in the home You cleared, and I am learning what the walls feel like without the old shadows. You are holding this open space around me. I am held here, in this forgiveness that has no end. That is enough. It is more than enough. Amen.
