Psalm 107:1
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
The coffee's gone cold again. You forgot to drink it. Somewhere between the unanswered emails and the mental list of what you didn't get to, the warmth slipped away. Life feels so full of lack sometimes—not enough time, not enough energy, not enough quiet. The noise of 'not yet' and 'not quite' fills the space where peace should be.
That sense of lack? It makes sense. In the rush and the scramble, it's easy to miss what's already here. You're not failing at gratitude. You're just human, moving fast through a world that often feels like it's asking for more than you have to give.
Right now, in this breath, a quiet heart is being handed to you. Not as a project to complete, but as a gift to receive. The scripture whispers it: 'Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.' This isn't a command to manufacture gratitude from thin air. It's an announcement about the nature of reality. He is good. His kindness lasts. Therefore, thanks is already yours—woven into the fabric of this moment, waiting to be noticed, not earned.
Goodness isn't hiding for you to find it. It meets you here. In the cold coffee and the unfinished list, His enduring love is the steady ground beneath your tired feet. This day arrives as a gift, received. The quiet heart? It's not something you construct from silence. It's the natural result of a soul realizing it's already home, already safe, already provided for.
So let the list be unfinished. Let the coffee stay cold. The goodness of God isn't contingent on your productivity or your perfect awareness. It simply is. And because it is, you can rest.
Breathe in. Goodness is here. Breathe out. You are held.
A prayer for today
Thank You that I don't have to manufacture a feeling. Life feels so full of lack sometimes, and You see that. You're not waiting for me to curate the perfect grateful thought. You are handing me a quiet heart right now, in the middle of the noise. I am receiving this day as a gift, not a task. Your goodness isn't something I find—it finds me. Your love endures, even when my attention doesn't. So here, in this moment, I stop striving to see the good. I let Your goodness see me. I am held. I am thankful. That's enough. Amen.
